BCB strikes DRS deal till 2027

Shawdesh Desk: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has recently struck a long-term deal directly with DRS (Decision Review System) service providers, making it sure that they would get the essential service smoothly for every series and tournament.

The DRS issue was the center of all discussion during the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as the cricket apex board had to face huge criticism for the absence of the service. Some of the franchisees complained that the absence of DRS directly made an impact in the match result.

Unavailability of human resources were cited as key reason for not using DRS in the country’s premier T20 competition. Later the BCB used DRS during the Playoff stage.

The BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed that news, saying that they secured the deal till 2027.

The DRS will be available in the upcoming series against England and Ireland, the BCB CEO said.

“The DRS will be used in the upcoming two series and there will be no problem to get the DRS in the coming four years in BPL also,” he said here today.

“There has been a lot of talk about DRS. But when DRS was not there, the ICC event was held. However when DRS arrived, the ICC made it mandatory to use. We also tried to use DRS in our domestic competition and as part of it, we handed it to our production house. However, now we have struck a long term deal, so there will be no problem of using it in any domestic competition,” he added.
